JIMMY WAYNE BOUNCES BACK
Jimmy Wayne is back on the charts with a Top 5 hit, “Do You Believe Me Now,” a song that he considers life-changing. “We’d already decided on the first single [from his new CD],” Jimmy tells Country Weekly. “But I fell in love with this song and was willing to fight for it.” The label agreed to make “Do You Believe Me Now” the debut single. “That one song catchin’ fire like that is the best thing, because that one thing changed my life,” he says. Jimmy also talks about his traumatic childhood in North Carolina and the time he spent in a place “where the county kept delinquent kids.”

SARA EVANS: BRING THE FAMILY
Sara Evans has recently partnered with Libby’s to record the company’s famous commercial jingle and promote family dinnertime. “The whole concept is to bring people back to the dinner table,” Sara tells Country Weekly. “And I have always been a big believer in family dinnertime. So, teaming up with Libby’s on this campaign was perfect for me.” Sara’s version of the famous jingle kicks off Sept. 1 on radio stations nationwide.

The Country Weekly staff has long been supportive of Rustie’s career for several years. In fact, one of the first stops Rustie made to preview songs from her forthcoming album was to their office in Nashville, where she performed "Cowgirls Do It Better" (one of 13 songs on her new album, Stronger Than Steel). The song had just been penned in a songwriting session earlier in the day and was so new that Rustie sang it with lyric sheet in hand! Larry Holden, Senior Editor of the long-running publication, described the tune as being "a rompingly funny look at the romantic world of guys and gals."

Stronger Than Steel – Rustie’s fourth album – also receives high marks from Larry: "Rustie is a stand out performer and this is a stand out album!"

"One Hot Summer Ago" is the lead single from Stronger Than Steel, which officially releases August 26, 2008!

COVER STORY: TAYLOR SWIFT
In this Country Weekly exclusive, Taylor Swift reveals how family and friends have helped her in her rise to fame, and the lessons she’s learned along the way. The 18-year-old superstar notes that her parents keep her grounded in the midst of the whirlwind of fame, but have no interest in managing her career. “They are just very supportive of my career in making sure that all the decisions are right,” Taylor tells Country Weekly. Taylor also talks about falling in love and her ideal guy. “I’m not opposed to falling in love,” she confesses, while adding that there is no one special in her life right now. “I seriously think there is a complete perfect Prince Charming out there for me somewhere, someone who has great hair and a completely immature sense of humor and everything that I want. I just haven’t found him yet.”
In the story, a typo had Taylor saying “a completely mature sense of humor”—but she actually said “immature sense of humor.”

Eric Durrance (Wind-Up Nashville) Added to CMT Tour 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ERIC DURRANCE SELECTED
TO JOIN JASON ALDEAN & LADY ANTEBELLUM

AS CMT ON TOUR '08 OPENING ACT

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (August 21, 2008)-Wind-up Records Nashville (a subsidiary of Wind-up Entertainment) is pleased to announce its flagship artist Eric Durrance has been added to the CMT On Tour entertainment line-up for this fall.

On the heels of making his introduction into the country music scene official with the release of his debut single entitled "Angels Fly Away," Eric Durrance has accepted the special invitation to open CMT ON TOUR-2008. Joining platinum-selling artist Jason Aldean (Broken Bow Records) and the reigning ACM Top New Group, Lady Antebellum (Capitol-Nashville), Eric will perform in 20 different markets across the nation this fall. Touring from one end of the country to the other, Durrance is excited to make new acquaintances and introductions in cities and towns he's not yet visited as part of his radio tour. "Everywhere I've been, people have enthusiastically welcomed me and my music," Durrance offered. "I look forward to bringing my music to folks in Maine, Texas, Kansas, West Virginia and more. This will be an experience of a lifetime." The tour kicks off at Western Carolina University on October 8 and continues through November 22, 2008.

A native of Tallahassee, FL, Durrance is a multi-talented, self-taught musician and soulful vocalist who acknowledges "music is in his blood." He's an emotional tunesmith who naturally delivers honest music-music that he's lived.

"Being the opening act on this tour is a coveted position."
Durrance said. "I'm extremely honored to be part of the tour with award-winning, platinum-selling artists and to share the stage once again with Jason and Lady A." Durrance played dates earlier this summer with the two artists.

Eric's participation in the CMT tour adds strength to his momentum to become "the" newcomer to watch. He recently signed with Buddy Lee Attractions, was featured in Country Weekly's "Listen Up," and is scheduled to appear in CMA Close-up Magazine in December.

"We are so proud of Eric's being selected for this opening slot. He's a great new addition to the country music format and for the CMT Tour. Eric Durrance is the perfect example of where the format is heading. Look for great things to come from this multi-talented artist," added Bernard Porter COO, Porter-Gentry/Wind-up Records Nashville.

Wind-up Records-Nashville will release ANGELS FLY AWAY digitally on September 16, 2008. The CD features cuts by some of Music City's finest song crafters including Dallas Davidson, Craig Wiseman, Jeffrey Steele and Alabama's own hitmaker, Teddy Gentry. Durrance wrote and/or co-wrote a number of the songs contained on the project. Produced by Teddy Gentry (Alabama/Emerson Drive) and Mark Bright (Rascal Flatts/Carrie Underwood), ANGELS FLY AWAY will appeal to country music listeners with contemporary taste and traditional flavor.

Shawna Russell Releases Sophomore Single 'Should’ve Been Born With Wheels'

For Immediate Release:

Shawna Russell Releases Sophomore Single, "Should've Been Born With Wheels"

Autobiographical Song Takes Listeners on the Road Journey of Her Life

NASHVILLE, TN (August 21, 2008) – Shawna Russell has released her new single to radio, "Should've Been Born With Wheels." The song is available via physical single, and digitally at AirPlay Direct. It is also included on CDX Volume 456 and CD Tex Volume 69 (both September 1 issues).

"Should've Been Born With Wheels" is the second release from the Oklahoma singer-songwriter's critically acclaimed CD, Goddess. Russell has been praised by Nashville's top music critic, Robert K. Oermann, along with Country Weekly, Maverick Magazine, Country Stars Online, The Oklahoman newspaper and many other publications, and music business insiders from around the world are predicting that she will become a major star.

Russell grew up in an environment that nurtured dreams and she carries on a family dream that was started by her father, Keith, and her uncle, Tim, when they began playing professionally nearly thirty years ago. Russell first started singing as a child, and by age 13 she was performing regularly. At 17, she went on the road full time, working and honing her skills at some of America's top clubs, casinos, and concert venues, where she presently continues to build her fan base and her notoriety.

And the family franchise goes on - her father plays guitar in her band, and her uncle plays bass, produces, co-manages, and is the founder of her record label, Way Out West Records. Together, the three co-wrote the new single.

Recorded in Oklahoma City, "Should've Been Born With Wheels" features famed L.A. drummer, Russ Kunkel, whose sterling credits include James Taylor, Carly Simon and Stevie Nicks; David Santos, bassist for Elton John, Billy Joel, and currently with John Fogerty; and guitarist, Jon Conley, who has graced the stage with Wynonna, LeAnn Rimes and others. Russell's powerful and passionate vocals were engineered by Grammy-winning Julian King – whose work with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill has helped propel them to superstardom. The track was mixed by Emmy and Grammy award recipient, Nathaniel Kunkel, in Los Angeles, between projects with The Police and Diana Ross.

"Should've Been Born With Wheels" opens with a crunchy rockin' guitar riff - then the drums and a punchy B-3 organ kick in and it chugs along like a rollicking road show. Russell delivers a powerful and knowing vocal that demands attention:

You know ever since I was a baby girl - Had a feeling down deep inside

I had to get out and see the world - Even though I couldn't drive

I knew I'd find a way if only in my mind

Well it must have been curiosity - At the heart of my desire

Roaming was my destiny – Time only fueled the fire

'Til I felt the rubber burnin' off my tires

So I'm packed up and ready to roll – It's the only way I know

I gotta keep movin' on - 'Cause I can't stand still

Should've been born with wheels

The song tells Russell's story. She says, "From an early age, I have had the luxury of being able to travel and make music for a living. This has always been such an important part of my life. So naturally, I wanted to give my listeners a peek into the events that have impacted both my life and my career."

New Husband and Wife Duo Thompson Square Release Debut Country Single

For Immediate Release:

Country's Newest Husband and Wife Duo Thompson Square Release Debut Single "Not Far Enough"

NASHVILLE, TN (August 20, 2008) – Thompson Square, Country music's newest duo, have released their debut single, "Not Far Enough," to radio this week. The song is available on CDX Vol. 455 and digitally at AirPlay Direct.

Thompson Square is comprised of husband and wife, Keifer and Shawna Thompson.

Shawna was born in Laurel, Mississippi and raised in the small south Alabama town of Chatom. She grew up under the influence of great artists including Reba McEntire, Shelby Lynne, Etta James, Patty Loveless and the supergroup, Alabama. Shawna's dream of being a recording artist began when she made her first recording into a hand-held tape recorder at four years of age in her mama's kitchen with her daddy playing banjo. That was just the beginning. Singing in her father's local band was a way of life while growing up, and it wasn't long until she set her sights on Nashville, where she scored an artist development deal with a major record label.

Keifer hails from the northeastern Oklahoma town of Miami. Music was always very important in his life and he recalls, "I was raised on Roger Miller and Elvis. I remember listening to daddy's vinyl records and learning to play guitar while entertaining the family in my cut off jeans and cowboy boots." After high school, Keifer attended college at Missouri Southern State University where he excelled in athletics and academics - all the while performing, writing and building a catalogue of songs. Soon after graduating, Keifer made the move to Nashville where he began gigging, touring with major artists and writing with some of Music City's great songwriters.

And then, fate stepped in - within weeks of Keifer and Shawna moving to Nashville they met while singing in a popular local venue. From that first moment, their lives were changed forever and a short time later they were married.

"Not Far Enough" will benefit greatly due to the fact that Thompson Square recently won the AirPlay Direct "All Things Digital Country / Alt. Country" artist contest, where they competed against over 200 entrants from around the world. The duo received a grand prize package of radio promotions, Internet marketing and publicity services from companies including, 1617 Virtual, CDA Promotions-Nashville, Airplay Specialists, VirtualMusicMarket.com, HitMenSongPluggers.com, Big Kev of Big Country Revue/Artist Development Co-op's Media Guide and AirPlay Direct.

Keifer and Shawna add, "We are excited about the new single! And we hope that everyone loves it."

LISA BROKOP & BEAUTIFUL TRAGEDY

LISA BROKOP & BEAUTIFUL TRAGEDY

Lisa Brokop will release her new album, Beautiful Tragedy, to iTunes and retail stores across Canada on August 19th.

The album, wh
ich followed a period of needed time off for reflection, is a creative breakthrough for the highly acclaimed singer/songwriter.

Beautiful Tragedy was co-produced by Lisa and her new husband, singer/songwriter Paul Jefferson. It features 12 songs, including such distinctive tunes as the title track, and Lisa's current hit single, "Break It."

Lisa ha
s been a significant part of Canadian music for over two decades. In this time, she has earned numerous awards and nominations, including being nominated for the Canadian Country Music Association's Female Artist of the Year in 2008.

Two years ago, after years of touring and recording, Lisa decided to take some time off from her career. So she spent time with her family and some time in her garden. "I needed to put the brakes on because my tank was low on fuel"
she recalls. "I realized that it was time for me to start making more decisions for myself and that I had to make them without being too greatly influenced by others if I was going to get to the heart off the matter...the real music I wanted to make."

Eventually, she returned to writing and penned what turned out to
be some of her most intimate songs, ever. In the end, she co-wrote all but one song on the album.

Being involved in every aspect of the creative process for the album enabled Lisa to concentrate more than ever on the delivery of her vocals and lyrics. "I wanted this record to focus more on the lyric and vocal and keep the instrumentation to a minimum, giving it an organic and soulful vibe so each song had room to breathe,"
she says.

A towering accom
plishment, "Beautiful Tragedy" is a reflective look at many aspects of life -- as viewed through the eyes of a seasoned songwriter and performer. Being so deeply involved in the project freed Lisa to bear her soul lyrically about both the beauty and the sadness of life.

"I have never had an album with as much heart, soul and honesty in it,"
she says. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to share it with those who want to listen."

Check out Lisa's website at www.lisabrokop.com to hear the
new single "Break It" and to order this moving album.

The Grascals Nominated for Two IBMA Awards, Performing on Opry Live This Weekend & WGN News at Noon Next Week

#1 on Billboard Bluegrass Chart for 4 Consecutive Weeks

(Nashville, TN) Rounder Records recording artists, The Grascals have been at the top of the Billboard Bluegrass Chart for four consecutive weeks riding the success of their recently released third album Keep On Walkin'. The band is scheduled to perform on the televised portion of the Grand Ole Opry this Saturday, August 16, at 8 PM CT and will be featured on GAC's Opry Live with Nan Kelley during that hour. They will also be airing their performance on WGN News at Noon next Friday, August 22 on WGN.

"The new album is a musical journey of each part of the music we love, traditional bluegrass, traditional country and some originals that no one has ever recorded before," said vocalist and guitarist Jamie Johnson. "We just want to keep playing our favorite music and be ‘in the dance' with the rest of the top acts out there!"

The 2006 and 2007 IBMA Entertainers of the Year are excited about the release of their most recent album on July 15, 2008. The Associated Press reported, "Keep On Walkin' deepens the Grascals' trademark blend of bluegrass roots and hard-country themes... shows how strong this tight-knit combo sounds when building a repertoire of their own."

The group is looking forward to this year's IBMA awards show scheduled for October 2, 2008 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. They are nominated for two awards: Entertainer of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year.

Vocally, the trio of Terry Eldredge, Jamie Johnson, and Terry Smith are tighter than ever, cutting loose on driving solo vocals and soaring trios with equal fire and passion. As an instrumental unit, The Grascals have never sounded sharper, with mandolin ace Danny Roberts and new banjo player Aaron McDaris leading the charge.

KISS AND CHESNEY ROCKED THE 2008 STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY (concert wrap up and photos)

During Sturgis Bike Week, motorcycle rally fans were blown away by shows from two of the music industry’s biggest touring acts: KISS and Kenny Chesney. Known to Sturgis fans as Rock’n the Rally, the two shows took place at Glencoe Amphitheater on Mon. Aug. 4 and Weds. Aug. 6, 2008.

Produced and promoted by Sturgis newcomer Rozone Productions, the shows took place at the largest outdoor amphitheater in the U.S. on one of the largest stages in the industry. A deal signed with amphitheater owner Glencoe in May 2008 put Rozone in place to lead production and promotion of the Rock’n the Rally shows over the next five years.

“This year’s Sturgis shows exceeded expectations,” said Rozone Productions CEO Dave Rosen. “These shows were the biggest to hit Sturgis – we have received very positive feedback from fans. We look forward to bringing more in the years to come.”

Mon. Aug. 4, KISS used their explosive theatrics to commemorate the 35th anniversary of their KISS ALIVE album, which they played in its entirety. KISS brought their biggest show, performing five huge gags that had Rock’n the Rally attendees going wild. The show included major pyrotechnics, Gene’s classic blood spitting, Paul riding a zip line over the audience and a fireworks show that could be seen for miles.

Kenny Chesney’s Poets and Pirates Tour came to Rock’n the Rally on Weds. Aug. 6. The biggest touring act in country music and the only one to sell out NFL stadiums, Chesney brought in thousands of fans from South Dakota and surrounding states. The seven-time CMA Entertainer of the Year played a full set of his billboard hits and wowed the crowds with Jimmy Buffet, Bob Marley and U2 covers. Fans had the privilege of gearing up for Chesney with opening act Pat Green.

Rozone is planning to return to Rock’n the Rally in 2009; stay tuned for lineup announcements.

More information about Rozone Productions follows. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Jordan Jeffus

IBMA Announces International Bluegrass Music Awards Nominees

IBMA ANNOUNCES INTERNATIONAL BLUEGRASS MUSIC AWARDS NOMINEES

Dailey & Vincent, Blue Highway, The Dan Tyminski Band and Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder Top Nominee List

NASHVILLE, TENN.--IBMA is proud to announce the nominees for the 19TH Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, to be hosted by Del McCoury on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

The list of nominees continues a trend of elevating a new wave of stars, as well as honoring the ongoing contributions of the genre’s legends.

The explosion of relatively new acts on the national bluegrass scene is highlighted by multiple nominations for The Grascals, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, The Infamous Stringdusters and The Steep Canyon Rangers, along with first-time nominees Dailey & Vincent, Grasstowne, The SteelDrivers and Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass. Voting colleagues also continue to recognize pioneering talent making highly relevant contributions, as evidenced by nominations for no less than five Hall of Fame members--Earl Scruggs, Mac Wiseman, Everett Lilly, J.D. Crowe and The Lewis Family.

Dailey & Vincent burst onto the scene just last year. The group’s leaders (Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent) apprenticed under Doyle Lawson and Ricky Skaggs and find themselves with the most nominations (10), including Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group, Male Vocalist (Jamie), Emerging Artist, Bass Player (Darrin) and Album of the Year for their self-titled debut on Rounder Records. The duo picked up two Song of the Year nominations for “By the Mark” and “More Than a Name on a Wall,” along with a Gospel Recorded Performance nomination for “By the Mark” and a nod for Recorded Event of the Year for Vincent’s work on the Everett Lilly & Everybody and Their Brother project (Swift River Music).

Supergroups Blue Highway, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder and The Dan Tyminski Band will each vie for six IBMA awards.

A star who has made indelible marks in multiple genres of music, as well as being one of the premier ambassadors for bluegrass, Ricky Skaggs and members of his band Kentucky Thunder cut a wide path among the nominees. In addition to nods for Instrumental Group of the Year, they are finalists for Album of the Year for their Honoring the Fathers of Bluegrass – Tribute to 1946 and 1947 (Skaggs Family Records) and for Gospel Recorded Performance and Recorded Event of the Year for Salt of the Earth (Skaggs Family), which is Skaggs’ first full-length recorded collaboration with his wife’s award-winning group, The Whites. Banjo player Jim Mills and guitarist Cody Kilby are nominated for excellence in their respective Instrumentalist of the Year categories. This is Kilby’s first such nomination, while Mills owns six trophies for his banjo work.

Blue Highway took the producer and primary songwriting reins for their latest album, Through the Window of a Train, earning nods for both Album of the Year and Song of the Year for the title track, co-written by band member Tim Stafford and Grasstowne's Steve Gulley. The band also earned nominations for Vocal Group, Instrumental Group, Guitar (Tim Stafford) and Dobro (Rob Ickes). Ickes is the most awarded instrumentalist (nine trophies) in the history of the IBMA Awards.

Dan Tyminski, the singing voice of George Clooney in the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? and longtime guitarist with Alison Krauss & Union Station, stretches out on his own with six nominations including Male Vocalist, an award he received in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The virtuosity of his band earns an Instrumental Group nomination, and members are individually highlighted: Barry Bales for Bass, Adam Steffey for Mandolin and Ron Stewart with a rare set of nominations for Banjo and Fiddle.

Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, The Del McCoury Band and Grasstowne all received four award nominations each.

The highest honors of the year go to the new members of the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees will be Bill Clifton, a pioneering artist, songwriter and international ambassador for bluegrass music, and the late author and historian, Charles K. Wolfe. (For complete information on this year’s inductees, please visit http://www.ibma.org/ibma.awards/currentpress/HOFPress.asp.)

IBMA’s Distinguished Achievement Award is an honor which recognizes individuals, groups and businesses for ground-breaking work and fostering the music’s image and accessibility. This year’s recipients are artist Bill Harrell, The Banjo Newsletter, The Ernest Tubb Record Shop, association leader and event producer Art Menius and Joe Carr & Alan Munde, known for their contributions to the genre as artists and educators. (For complete information on this year’s recipients, please visit http://www.ibma.org/ibma.awards/currentpress/distachieve.asp.)

Ticket information for the 19th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, bluegrass music’s biggest night of the year, is available by calling 888-438-4262, (615) 256-3222 or online at www.ibma.org.

The awards show will be broadcast live on XM Satellite Radio (“Bluegrass Junction” Channel 14) and syndicated to more than 300 U.S. markets and 14 foreign networks, thanks to the sponsorship of Martha White, MerleFest, GAC-TV, GHS Strings, Pinecastle Records and Deering Banjos. Program directors and station managers may contact IBMA for affiliate information at the numbers listed above.

The International Bluegrass Music Awards are voted on by the professional membership of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), which serves as the trade association for the bluegrass music industry. The IBMA Awards Show is the centerpiece of the World of Bluegrass week, including the industry’s Business Conference and Bluegrass Fan Fest, slated for September 29 – October 5 in Nashville.

This Summer

Hey everybody. It has been an interesting summer for a number of reasons. I have made a lot of new friends at the shows we have played. I have lost a few loved ones this summer as well and dealing with that the best we can. There are other things to talk about though… things more related to the music career. It started when I was asked by my girlfriend's parents to move some things up north to Chicago. The deal was, if I helped load the u-haul and drive it to Illinois, we would stop through Nashville on the way home. I am always looking for a way to get to Nashville so I took the deal.

The most important thing I had to do in Nashville was writing with J C. unfortunately everything fell apart. J.C. is an artist from Lakeland who now lives in Nashville. His music video, "When the Tide Rolls In", is doing some great things on GAC. He is preparing to cut a new album soon so he asked me to come help him write a few songs for it. However, because of the success his video has been having, J.C. had to leave town for the week I was there. Of course, we didn't know this until the day we arrived in Nashville. So at this point I was scrambling to salvage this trip which was starting to look more and more like a total waste. I called a few people that I have met in the past, and some how ended up with two meetings. One was with Curb Records and the other was with Warner Brothers. The first meeting was with Curb, which is Tim McGraw's label. Things went unbelievably well there. The wheels have started turning in the direction of me getting a writers deal with them. It is the furthest we have gotten with a label yet. So it is an extremely exciting thing. When I met with Warner Brothers, I received a similar reaction. I have been asked to return to Nashville in order to meet with some of the top publishing companies up there to see if they would like to hire me as a writer.

What I am trying to say, without using so many words, is that I have a really good chance of getting a writer's deal and moving to Nashville. So if everyone could say a few prayers and cross your fingers for me, I can use all the help I can get. Thank you so much!

Johnny Bulford

Johnny will be performing at Carl Black GMC this Saturday. He's opening for the new up and coming Nashville recording artist Adam Gregory. Adam has a new song called Crazy Days. The video is doing well on CMT. He's with Taylor Swift's label. His new song is really good. The show is from 2 to 4 and it's FREE. There is more info on the website. Oh and we will have the new Bandanas there. I've also picked up more copies of the Southern Thing CD. Can't wait to see you,

PORTER-GENTRY PUBLISHING SIGNS SONGWRITER JESSICA WALLACE

NASHVILLE, Tennessee
(August 13, 2008)--Porter Gentry Publishing is pleased to announce the signing of Jessica Wallace to its roster.

Nineteen-year old Jessica Wallace launched her writing and recording career in California where she was a member of the Christian band "Stainless." Now, a member of Nashville's music community, Jessica has performed at a number of songwriter's nights in Music City.

"The first thing that attracted us to Jessica was her use of conversational lyric and simple melodies to speak to listeners her own age," said Steve Pope VP of A&R Porter-Gentry. "Her alternative country-style vocal is completely natural and lends itself nicely to appeal to a younger audience."

Formed by industry veteran Bernard Porter and artist/musician/songwriter and producer extraordinaire, Teddy Gentry (Alabama), Porter-Gentry is an entertainment consulting and production company with its primary focus being artist development and entertainment related assets (including music publishing, master recordings, distribution partnerships, artist products and merchandising). Jessica Wallace is the first writer signed to Porter-Gentry for exclusive catalog representation.

The 12th Annual Indianapolis Air Show takes place August 22-24 at the Mount Comfort Airport in Indianapolis. Bryna hits the stage, located next to the Indy Arrow Building, at 5:00 p.m.

Recently named the voice and spokesperson for the Air Guard’s new major advertising campaign, Bryna recently filmed the video for a new song she co-wrote, “Hometown Heroes,” which honors Air Guard men and women who answer the call of duty to serve their communities and country. The song will become the official theme song of the Air Guard’s year-long radio and television ad campaign, meant to educate men and women about this branch of the military that supports the needs of the U.S. Air Force, aids communities in times of crisis and supports the nation’s Homeland Defense Department.

The Air Guard’s unique dual mission involves response to emergencies both state and nationwide. When natural disasters hit a state, the Governor (or appropriate official) relies on the Air Guard to save lives, rescue neighbors and deliver critical supplies to those in need. Additionally, the Air Guard is relied on for federal missions, answering the President’s call for overseas humanitarian aid or support of our nation’s Homeland Defense Efforts. Currently, there are over 140 Air Guard units in the United States and its territories.

“The 2008 Indianapolis Air Show is extremely excited about having the first concert at the show this year!” said Robert Duncan, executive director of the Air Show.

The 2008 Air Show, which draws about 100,000 annually, will feature fun for the entire family, including the 50th anniversary NASA “Journey to Tomorrow” exhibit, wingwalkers, stunt planes, a hot air “balloonathon,” Warbirds and additional military exhibits. The show is a charity event, with net proceeds benefiting the Central Indiana Community Foundation – a foundation that has received more than $1.3 million for children’s charities from the Indianapolis Air Show since the show’s inception in 1997.

Discounted advance tickets for the 12th Annual Indianapolis Air Show are now on sale for $17 for adults and $8 for children ages 6-12. These tickets are available for purchase at Marsh, O’Malia’s and United Package Liquors stores or online at http://www.indyairshow.com/. Tickets will be available at the gate, but will increase to $20 for an adult ticket and $10 for a child.

Bryna’s debut CD from Equity Music Group, TRYING TO BE ME, is currently available in stores and online at iTunes. For more information, visit http://www.laurabryna.com/ or www.myspace.com/laurabryna.

Del McCoury to Host International Bluegrass Music Awards on October 2

Del McCoury to Host International Bluegrass Music Awards on October 2

Nashville, TN…Legendary bluegrass artist Del McCoury will host the 19th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards on Thursday, October 2, at 8:30 p.m. (central), at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

“The IBMA has been really good to the band and our families from the beginning,” McCoury comments. “So after 50 years in this business, having the opportunity to give a little something back by hosting our music's biggest night is a special honor. My experience has given me a unique perspective on our industry's ups and downs, which leads me to believe the best is yet to come. Bluegrass is being welcomed into new musical communities across the world, and on October 2nd we get the chance to acknowledge the good work of our peers and celebrate the new opportunities awaiting us in the year to come."

The Del McCoury Band has taken home the industry’s top Entertainer of the Year award for an unprecedented nine times from 1994-2004, and overall they are the most awarded group in the history of IBMA. The group has been nominated for six Grammys, winning the award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2006. Del has seen his videos welcomed by CMT; joined the Grand Ole Opry; represented the cream of the bluegrass crop on national television, making appearances on Austin City Limits, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Late Show with David Letterman and PBS Sessions at West 54th; and the band anchored PBS’ first, immensely successful national foray into America’s original roots music as featured performers on the All*Star Bluegrass Celebration.

While the accolades are appreciated, Del McCoury will tell you—and mean it—that he was happy when he was cutting timber alone in the woods during the week and playing music on the weekend. “I used to travel 40 miles and make seven dollars to play a night of bluegrass,” Del McCoury says. “I always loved playing, always loved the road.” He earns a little more and travels a little farther nowadays, but the essential truth remains: Del McCoury plays and sings because he loves making music for a living and appreciates the people who have made that possible.

McCoury’s love for life and bluegrass music is contagious. Regularly drawing crowds which run the gamut from tie-dyed neo-hippie jammers alongside button-down Yuppies and suspendered good ol’ boys, The Del McCoury Band may well boast the broadest, most inclusive fan base this side of the Grateful Dead. They are undeniably one of the most talented, revered and vital groups in bluegrass history. The Washington Post called Del “a national treasure,” while numerous music publications have credited The Del McCoury Band with increasing the bluegrass “hip factor," generating much of the genre's steady upswing in popularity with a more youthful crowd. He’s equally welcome at traditional bluegrass festivals, jam band gatherings, and the most prestigious music venues in America—from MerleFest, to Bonnaroo and Carnegie Hall.

In 1950 he was an 11-year-old boy living on a Pennsylvania dairy farm when he had his first taste of Earl Scruggs. He hasn’t been the same since. “He put me on fire for music,” McCoury says. “Later on, everybody else was crazy about Elvis, but I loved Earl.” McCoury worked in a string of Baltimore honkytonks before signing up as a Blue Grass Boy with Bill Monroe in 1963. But eventually Pennsylvania called him home again, and there he turned his attention to raising his family, earning his living in construction and logging while continuing to travel the bluegrass circuit, never straying far from his first love. Through the years he recorded the occasional brilliant album, but it wasn’t until 1992 that everything meshed perfectly for McCoury, when he formed The Del McCoury Band with his sons, Ronnie and Rob.

Looking back, McCoury says, “I’ve played music forever, but it all just seemed to come together in the last 10 years or so. The thing is, I’ve never changed my style at all. I’ve always done my own thing, always had confidence in myself. I always knew that someone would like my sound.” McCoury says that new fans of bluegrass are spreading the word about the music. “Young people are just wild about bluegrass. This music has grit and young people like that. The general public hears something real in bluegrass. That’s why it’s more popular than ever, I believe.”

The International Bluegrass Music Awards are determined by the professional membership of the association and recognize outstanding achievement in the bluegrass genre. The show is syndicated to more than 300 radio stations across the country and around the world, and will be broadcast live on XM Satellite Radio. National sponsors for the show include Martha White Foods, GACTV, GHS Strings, Pinecastle Records, MerleFest and Deering Banjos. Tickets may be purchased from IBMA at 888-438-4262 or online at ibma.org

Rick Huckaby Surprises Fan with Benefit Concert

Hickman Huck Jam Against Cancer

RICK HUCKABY SURPRISES LOYAL FAN WITH BENEFIT CONCERT
Mother of Two Receives Aid in Fight Against Cancer

Nashville, Tenn.--August 1, 2008 - Last week, Rick Huckaby took time out of his busy schedule to help a fan when they needed it most. Despite the grueling schedule associated with the release of his upcoming new single, "Ain't Enough Blacktop" scheduled for release on August 4, Huck hopped a plane and headed to Gahanna, Ohio, (located near Columbus) to headline a surprise benefit concert for Brandy Hickman. Mother of two young girls, ages 7 and 10, Brandy was recently diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. Over the years, Hickman and her husband, Jay have been avid supporters of Rick and his music, traveling hundreds of miles to catch shows and soliciting friends and family to do the same. "When I got the call about Brandy and what her family wanted to do to help her cover the cost of medical bills, it was a no-brainer," said Rick, whose own father succumbed to cancer in 2006 at the age of 60.

Even after inviting more than two hundred family and friends, event organizers Lisa Evans and Kelly Zimmerman were still able to keep the entire event secret until Brandy and her family arrived. Huckaby played an amazing set, rocking it out for a couple of hours. After playing and selling out of CDs and pictures, he donated all the money from the merchandise sales to the event. "Through Rick's generous support and the support of sponsors, volunteers, Rick Stover of Coaches, the community, family and friends, the event was able to raise over $8000 in donations and sales. My family and I can never repay the generosity that everyone has given to help Brandy," expressed Evans in a letter to the label. "Give my thanks and love to Rick and Andy for their kind support and welcome them as an additional part of our family forever." Rick's humble response--"If you are one of 'Huck's Herd,' you are already family."

Donations to the Brandy L. Hickman Fund are being accepted at any US Bank location. For a location in your area, visit www.usbank.com. For more information on Rick Huckaby, log on to www.rickhuckaby.com.

www.famecast.com/contest/stage.php?sid=4&rid=1006&aid=2481&vid=14982.

IMG_2987T250.jpg picture by rdkeister

A short registration process is required prior to participation in the voting – however, if fans have already registered to vote in previous competitions, they can log in directly to the website and submit their votes. Fans who are new to FameCast may register here: www.famecast.com/join/signup_member.php.

One vote per valid e-mail address is permitted per 24-hour period.

In previous years, winners were determined solely by fan votes. Beginning this month, "The Buzz Factor" rating has been added. The new feature takes into consideration the number of plays artists receive for their submitted videos on the FameCast website, as well as the amount of "buzz" generated on each competing artist through Google searches, MySpace, Facebook, press, blogs, and other marketing venues.

Week 1 of daily voting began today for the Open Round. Artists receiving the most fan votes and highest Buzz Factors will advance into the Top 25 for their stage for Week 2. The Top 10 will be announced in Week 3 and the Top 5 in Week 4.

Winners from each stage in August, September, and October will receive their own feature in SPIN magazine. In addition, these winners will compete in the Fall 2008 FameCast Finals in November for a chance at winning $20,000 and the Fall 2008 FameCast Fenom title. Top artists will also score all kinds of gigs along the way – Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Music Festival, SPIN's Ruby Concert Series in L.A., and more!

There are six competing stages in the current contest, representing various genres of music: Country, Rock, Hip Hop, Pop, Latino, and Christian.

Last year, Rustie competed for the title of FameCast Country Fenom, advancing all the way into the Top 5 for the Country Stage! FameCast flew her to Austin, Texas, where she placed 2nd overall, coming in just two votes shy of the title.

Country Recording Artist Laura Bryna Soars for Air Guard

Country Music Artist Laura Bryna Flies the Skies Above Country Thunder Festival

Voice of Air Guard Ad Campaign Gets Up Close on Refueling Mission at 30,000 Feet

NASHVILLE,TN (July 31, 2008) – Equity Music Group recording artist Laura Bryna got an ‘up close and personal’ look at an F-16 fighter jet this past week…at 30,000 feet and 400 miles per hour. A passenger on an Air Guard KC-135R Stratotanker, Bryna watched as Air Guard pilots refueled eight jets during an early morning mission over the site of the annual Country Thunder music festival in Twin Lakes, WI.

Bryna later hit the stage to perform songs from her debut CD, including the new ‘Hometown Heroes’, which she co-wrote. The song, which honors Air Guard men and women who answer the call to serve country and community, will be the official theme song for the Air Guard’s yearlong national ad campaign on radio and television.

As spokesperson for the Air Guard’s advertising campaign, Bryna has been busy helping to spread the word, most recently at Air Guard-sponsored stops in Wisconsin (Country Thunder) and Wyoming (Cheyenne’s Frontier Days).

During Bryna’s spirited performance at Country Thunder, she invited Air Guard members onstage and introduced them to the crowd. She also made an appearance at the Air Guard booth during the festival, where a specially-designed Copley guitar was given away to one lucky festival attendee.

On the heels of her Wisconsin performance, Bryna traveled to Wyoming for a Guard-sponsored concert at the Static Air Show in Cheyenne. An overflow crowd of over 1500 inside an airplane hangar watched as Bryna performed. She also participated in the induction of five men and women into the Air Guard, asking them remain on stage with her while she finished her concert with ‘Hometown Heroes’.

Bryna recently filmed a video for “Hometown Heroes” which will be part of the national ad campaign for the Air Guard. She will perform at a number of concerts around the country, including a special engagement over Labor Day Weekend to raise awareness and funds for the Folds of Honor Foundation, a legacy foundation designed to provide educational scholarships for dependents and spouses of service members who are either killed or disabled while serving in the U.S. military. The organization was founded by Captain Dan Rooney, an F-16 pilot with the Air Guard and a teaching golf professional with the PGA.

Bryna’s affiliation with the Air Guard is a natural one, as she’s been a longtime supporter of the men and women in uniform. “Being a part of the mission to lift the spirits of our service men and women is an honor for me,” she said. “What an awesome organization and what an amazing experience. I am truly humbled by it.”

The Air Guard has a unique dual mission. When natural disasters or civil disturbances hit a state, the Governor, or other appropriate authority, calls out the Air Guard for a state mission. In response, the Air Guard is there to help save lives, rescue neighbors and deliver critical supplies to stricken communities. The other role is the federal mission. It's an answer to the President's call for overseas humanitarian aid, or support of our nation's Homeland Defense efforts. There are currently over 140 Air Guard units in the United States and its territories.

Laura Bryna’s radio single, “Life Is Good,” is currently climbing the country charts. Her full length debut CD, ‘Trying To Be Me’, is in stores now. You can learn more about Nashville’s newest singing sensation by visiting www.laurabryna.com or www.myspace.com/laurabryna.

JEFF GRIFFITH'S "FISHIN' FOREVER" REELS IN A BIG "1"IN EUROPE

JEFF GRIFFITH’S “FISHIN’ FOREVER” REELS IN A BIG “1”IN EUROPE

“Jeff Griffith gets his first number 1 with “Fishin' Forever,” an out-and-out traditional country song which has found favour among DJs all over Europe and in Australia.” – Stuart Cameron / HotDisc chart

Nashville, TN (August 1, 2008) – Texan Jeff Griffith reels in a big one this week with “Fishin’ Forever,” which jumps to the #1 spot on the European Country HotDisc chart in four short weeks. “This is a shock, for sure,” says the amiable Texan. “But let me tell you, there’s no other feelin’ on earth quite like this!”

Jeff credits songwriters Tony Stampley and Larry Shaw for writing the “perfect summer song,” and adds that dance instructor/choreographer Lynn Gannon aided the cause, creating a few special steps for “Fishin” that have had boots “scootin’” in England. “From what I hear, the DJs really liked it, and once they started playing it, it just spread like a ripple in a pond. I owe everyone a big ‘thanks!’” Griffith hopes that U.S. audiences will take the bait; the single was just released stateside on CDX (July, Vol. 453).

Part of Griffith’s “thank you” campaign is a commitment to his publicist Martha Moore to make himself available for live interviews with DJs from across the Pond. “I’d love to have a big ol’ fish fry and invite everyone,” Jeff says with a grin. “But until I get over there, we’ll just have to get to know each other on the phone!”

Hear more songs from Jeff’s debut CD, IF IT AIN’T ONE THING IT’S ANOTHER, on his websites: http://www.jeffgriffith.net/ and www.myspace.com/jeffgriffith .
